SEASONS IN THE ABYSS

Can someone turn down the heat please? Who’s in charge here?
I hope you’re all doing awesome out there and staying fresh! Forgive the radio silence, I’ve been insane levels of busy for the last few months. It’s all about to end very soon though so I’m not here to complain, I promise.
I’ve been catching up to make one crazy deadline after another for the last 10 months and I now have so much great work to show for it. All 116 fully painted pages of TIGRESS ISLAND were finally finished, set-up, coloured and sent to pre-press at the end of May! That was one huge job, wrapped up in record time! Then, 129 pages of MAWRTH VALLIIS 2 got penciled, inked and are now getting coloured and I should get that finished by next Thursday. I’ve also been spending all of my non-work, work time, packing and shipping out FFF books. I also managed to fit a really cool 4 page short in the Living the Line anthology book coming out soon. And all of that during an intense, cataclysmic, mega super heatwave. The fires are raging all around my little town. All over southern Europe, really. But don’t worry, like I said, I am not here to complain. I’m about to get my life back and I’ll have so much cool shit to show you.
HARPY NEWS
HARPY has sold out!! Still a few at the distribution level but we’re now getting our ducks in a row for a second edition, Yay! Thank you so much to all of you who picked up one of these bricks! I know that price tag was pretty heavy but there was no other way to make a good looking 308 page book. It was a huge chance to take. One that Living The Line took. And I’m so happy it worked out and the feedback has been so amazing too! Books like HARPY are the kind of books I want to do with most of my time so this little success is a huge one for me. Thank you!!!!
TIGRESS ISLAND NEWS
If you’ve been following the TIGRESS ISLAND saga, I hope you all liked the grand finale. Issue 5 (the final issue) came out last Wednesday (I think it was last week?… Time is a blur for me these days) and the reviews have been mostly great so far. A few crazy ones but I had been warned, with a successful book getting a big distribution comes big opinions as well. Nothing too nasty and most were really great. I can also never imagine myself making a book that everyone would love. I am, however, amazed at the handful of people who were shocked (and very angry) by the (extremely mild) sexualised content though. I thought we made a great job of making quite clear the type of exploitation content the books were about with all of our covers.
TIGRESS ISLAND was, it’s true, very stressful to make, but at the very same time, a lot of fun too (I think I’ve said this a bunch of times now) and independently from all of that, it also happened to be a hit! The support from the LCS to the press to the readers was amazing and it made my first experience at a floppy run an incredible one! Thank you to everyone who picked up some issues and helped make TIGRESS ISLAND a total success!!
Let me know what you thought about it and if you haven’t plunged in yet, the TP is getting released in early October. There will be a lot of extra pages in there too!
Thank you!! I’m already thinking of a possible next floppy run after my next few projects.
SDCC
Yesterday was the first day of the San Diego Comic Con!! I would have loved to come but maybe in a year or two when I have more time and a few more books to show! Until then, if you’re a fan of TIGRESS ISLAND, go see Patrick! He’ll be signing at the Image Comics booth most days! We have a super cool Convention exclusive, chrome finish cover of the fourth printing of the first issue available there. Go get one and tell Patrick what you thought of our weird book!!
MAWRTH VALLIIS NEWS
MAWRTH VALLIIS 1 & 2 (French editions) have just been announced. Book one (First published by Image Comics in 2021) is coming out in France at the end of September and the brand new book 2 (made specifically for this publisher) comes out two weeks later. I’ll always love the first one but how can I put this politely… Let’s just say that it shows that there are 5 years between both books. More specifically, 650 pages between them. It’s amazing to see. And MAWRTH VALLIIS 2 is insanely cool. If you liked the first one, you will go totally nuts with the second.
The second book comes out in France in October. And as much as I am quite sure it will travel back and get published in the US not long after that, I will also have a few signed copies of both French edition books at my shop too. They are BEAUTIFUL books! I can’t wait to show these off!
ORIGINAL ART NEWS
I’ve been so swamped that I had to interrupt my monthly TIGRESS ISLAND page drops this month. There’s just not enough time! So I decided to drop what’s left (all the pages from Issues 3, 4 and 5) all at once in mid August instead. There are still a few left from issue 1 and 2 as well on my shop.
If there’s a specific page you absolutely need until then, DM me on Instagram and I can find it for you, send you pics of it and so on and so forth…
I’ll post a little update right here as soon as I have a set date for the drop but it will be in August for sure!
I can’t wait to be done with all these deadlines and get my life back. A day off once in a while will be so sweet. But at the same time, the only thing I can think about right now is which awesome project am I starting next!! I’ve got a few more FFF books to ship, commissions to make and some promo trips to go on but new books are already being planned and worked out and they will absolutely rock your socks off.
That’s it for me today. More news real soon.
Stay awesome and drink lots of water!!
P.s. I was asked where the photos I used for the intros of each issue of TI (and the back covers) came from a few weeks ago. And so they are all mine from way back when I used to travel. I was obsessed with film photography and took millions of pictures on my trips. I still use these photos today. For the intro pages, 2 were from Tanzania, 2 from South Africa and 1 from Laos. I always like to squeeze some photos in my books. There will definitely be more to spot.

Given that Mawrth Valliis is entirely in Martian anyway. Obviously we can try to nab the French release and have no trouble “reading” it. But is the format different? If we already have the first American release would it make more sense to either wait for the American release of the second or buy both volumes of the French or is it not particularly noticeable to mix and match as long as you’re not reading the publishing info? I don’t have my copy handy right now to check what other writing may be in there
Hi!! Are you going to do prints of that star trek piece at the top of the post? 🤩
